Travel Insurance

We took out our insurance with NRMA Travel. As members it worked out cheaper. NRMA travel insurance is underwritten by CGU insurance. The features we looked for were coverage for lost or stolen luggage, Travel disruptions & cancellations, full medical and car rental excess cover.

Did we get to test it out. Unfortunately Yes. Somewhere in the parks our daughter picked up a case of chicken pox. When we arrived in Hawaii on our second leg of the trip it broke out in full bloom. At the end of our stay we were advised that we would not be cleared to fly for a further 3 day. We rang up the CGU help line and got assigned a case manager. Although we were some what stressed about being in a foriegn country with a sick child, they were very calm and advised us of all the steps to go through to rebook flights as well as what else we were covered for. This included a rental car hire to take our daughter to and from doctors appointments.

When we returned to Australia we submitted a claim and got a cheque a week later. I don't think I have ever had an easier insurance claim.
